Queensland Teachers' Journal, Vol 129 No number 6, 23 August 2024, page no 6.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your outstanding participation and invaluable contributions during this crucial phase of our bargaining process. Your commitment to shaping the future of our profession is truly commendable.
By the Executive meeting on 17 June, we had received an overwhelming 1,613 submissions, spanning 192 pages of detailed insights and perspectives. Your thoughtful submissions have provided us with a rich tapestry of ideas and concerns, reflecting the diversity and dedication within our membership.
Through diligent analysis, we have identified five pivotal interests that resonate strongly across our community.
- Remuneration that recognises the professional qualifications of members.
- Attracting and retaining teachers and school leaders.
- Implementing the Comprehensive Review of School Resourcing.
- Supporting teachers and school leaders as professionals.
- Fair and safe workplaces.
Your feedback has not only illuminated these critical priorities but has also underscored the shared aspirations and challenges we face as educators. I am inspired by the depth of thought and passion evident in your submissions, which will guide us as we navigate the path forward in our negotiations.
Looking ahead, your input will inform our discussions with department representatives at the single bargaining unit when they begin next year, ensuring that we advocate effectively for your interests and aspirations. I am confident that, together, we will achieve outcomes that strengthen our profession and advance the interests of all members.
Once again, thank you for your unwavering dedication and active engagement. Your voices are the cornerstone of our Union’s strength, and I look forward to continuing this journey together throughout EB11.
