Roselynne Anderson Scholarship
Queensland Teachers' Journal, Vol 127 No 5, 19 July 2024, page 4.
Applications for the QTU’s Roselynne Anderson Scholarship are now open.
Each year, eligible QTU members can be considered for a scholarship up to the value of $1,500 to assist with expenses associated with undertaking professional development or further tertiary education relevant to special education, school leadership, or women in education in the following year.
The QTU’s Special Education Committee recommended the establishment of a scholarship to the QTU Executive in 2021, in memory of QTU Life Member Roselynne Anderson.
Roselynne made a significant contribution to the QTU over almost 30 years after first becoming a member in 1989. She held various QTU positions including Workplace Representative, Branch President and Vice-President, Area Council delegate, State Council Delegate, Executive member and was a delegate at AEU Federal Conference and AEU Women’s Conference on multiple occasions. On the national level, Roselynne attended AEU National Principals Committee over many years and was a valued and well-regarded member of that group, particularly ensuring issues for principals in special school settings were continually put on the agenda.
She commenced her membership of the QTU’s Special Education Committee in 1992, and according to our records, is the longest serving QTU member to have enjoyed continuous membership of a QTU standing committee, with close to 30 years of involvement in the committee when she retired in July 2021.
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- be a financial QTU member
- be undertaking or preparing to undertake professional development, training or further tertiary education relevant to special education, school leadership or women in education
- complete an application form which will outline how the scholarship funds will be used
- commit to providing the QTU with a brief report at the conclusion of the scholarship period outlining how the scholarship has contributed to their professional career development.
The application form is available at www.qtu.asn.au/roselynne-anderson-scholarship or you can email services@qtu.asn.au for further information.
Applications close on 5 October.
