The Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) has announced the appointment of a new director, Deanne Fishburn.
The Queensland registered teacher, who will commence in the role from 7 May, previously led the implementation of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers in Queensland.
Currently the QCT Executive Manager (Professional Standards), Ms Fishburn also led the implementation of the national standards and procedures for the accreditation of initial teacher education programs across the state.
Ms Fishburn’s collaborative leadership style has brought the state’s school and university sectors closer together to better align teacher education programs with the needs of schools.
QCT Board Chair Emeritus Professor Wendy Patton said Ms Fishburn’s appointment had been unanimously endorsed by the Board.
“I am confident that under Ms Fishburn’s leadership, the QCT will continue as a national leader within the teacher quality and regulation arena,” Professor Patton said.
Current QCT Director John Ryan first announced he would be stepping down from the role last year, after more than a decade of distinguished service.
