Dear QTU member,

Voting in Presidential elections opens 6 October!

The term of office for the current presidential officers ends on 17 January 2024. In order to commence the school year with a full complement of Senior Officers, nominations for the positions of President, Vice-President and Honorary Vice-President closed on 31 August 2023.

The ballot for the Presidential elections opens this Friday 6 October. Under QTU policy, candidates in the Presidential election can contribute one page to each of the Journals printed between the close of nominations and the close of the ballot. As there are only two print Journals during this time, QTU policy provides for the opportunity for up to three journals to be accessed, and to ensure that prior to the ballot opening all members have access to the relevant information about the election and the candidates, it was determined that a special Presidential election edition of the Queensland Teachers Journal be produced as an eJournal.

The Special Presidential Election version of The Teacher’s Journal can be accessed via this link. This journal provides a “Voter Guide” taken from the information provided by the Electoral Commission of Queensland (ECQ), which is the returning officer for this election, and campaign material from each of the candidates.
